Mifan Mama Supports Orphan Education
In addition to feeding, clothing and taking care of orphans basic needs, Mifan Mama runs a program to fund education for orphans who have no means to obtain funding to further their education. At Mifan Mama, we strongly believe that providing a child with an education is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty for him.
At present, we support 40 orphans with this fund , and are looking this year at extending our help to more. Our involvement in the child's education doesn't stop after we have covered the cost for tuition and living expenses for him/her. Our dedicated bilingual staff travel to check their schooling and living conditions, and maintains a regular contact with them. The child provides us with letters and school reports.
The fund has been generated by regular donors, but as the number of children supported grows, more money is needed. To send a child to kindergarten costs 1,500 rmb per year. Cost for high school and university students are between 5,000rmb and 10,000rmb per year. This includes school tuition, accommodation as these children have no family therefore they need to rent their own room, and monthly allowance.
